Overview
Eastside Mental Health Center is seeking a qualified Program Coordinator to manage our Rehabilitative Day Treatment Program. The Rehabilitative Day Treatment Program (RDP) provides long-term recovery services to clients with severe mental illness with the goals of improving functioning, facilitating recovery, achieving personal life goals, regaining self-worth, optimizing illness management, and helping recipients (clients) to become productive participants in family and community life.
The Program Coordinator will manage all aspects of the Rehabilitative Day Treatment Program, including the management of up to 3 staff members.
The ideal candidate will be assertive, honest, and dependable. They must possess the willingness to adhere to the Center’s clinical code of ethics and confidentiality. Ideal candidates go beyond satisfactory expectations in order to provide quality mental health services. As well, candidates will with reasonable accommodation, be physically able to perform job related duties on a regular basis. This position is in person at our Birmingham office and operates Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm.
Requirements of the Position:
- Knowledge regarding human behavior, psychopathology, and psychotherapeutic techniques, including knowledge of effects, side effects and adverse reactions to medications
- Ability to prepare administrative and clinical reports
- Able to speak effectively to the public, including clients, their families, and collaborative treatment providers
- Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a cohesive treatment team
- Possess knowledge of the special needs and behavioral challenges of the seriously mentally ill adult population
- Able to establish supportive and trusting relationships with the RDP clients and staff members
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgements regarding client care
- Maintain program according to State and Federal Standards as well as Clinical needs
- Insure that staff provide direct care and community service according to program and Center needs
- Provide direct service to clients and their families
- Provide clinical and administrative supervision to staff.
- Plan and participate in consultation and educational activities
- Develop and review annual program goals, review program standards and report to the Clinical Director
- Interview and recommend new personnel for the program when staff vacancies occur
- Evaluate staff performance and administrative reports on program activities
- Handle Correspondence related to the program
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with other agencies and professionals
- Identify training needs of staff and assign training as needed
- Provide and participate in in-service training as needed
- Participate in Quality Assurance and Treatment Plan Review (if Master’s Level Licensed Therapist)
Education and Experience
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a mental health related field (Psychology, Social Work, Social Services, etc) and at least 3 years post-degree clinical experience in a mental health setting. Additional Community Mental Health Day Treatment and/or supervisory experience preferred.
Preferred Education/Experience
Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling and at least 1 year post-degree clinical experience in a mental health setting. LICSW and LPC are preferred. Additional Community Mental Health Day Treatment and/or supervisory experience preferred and will be evaluated with regard to compensation.

Pay: $46,663.00 - $65,660.00 per year
