Legal Assistant/Receptionist, Beginning Immediately
Eastwood Estate & Probate Law, located in downtown Birmingham, seeks detail-oriented Legal Assistant for position beginning in January 2025. Ideal candidate is a quick learner with excellent written and verbal communication skills and a heart for helping people. Work includes heavy client communication, document drafting, file organization, and case collaboration. Eastwood Estate & Probate Law is a growing law firm with opportunities for bonuses. Job Description
- Full-time position, hours are 8:00AM until 4:30PM or 7:30AM until 4:00PM, Monday through Friday.
- Drafting estate administration pleadings, basic estate planning documents, deeds, subpoenas, interrogatories, requests for production, letters and other legal documents under the supervision of attorneys.
- Filing legal documents (e-filling skills can be taught at firm).
- Monitoring voicemail and email.
- Calendaring and maintaining work schedules of attorneys.
- Confirming appointments with clients.
- Corresponding with clients, other attorneys, members of the firm, court clerks, and judges’ offices.
- Mailing legal documents and correspondence through certified mail, regular mail, and FedEx
- Keeping track of attorney time records and billing.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational skills, and the ability to work successfully in a team environment.
- Competent to handle a variety of activities with attention to detail and quality, with the ability to follow through and follow up, and adapt to quickly meet changing deadlines and priorities.
- Ability to complete multiple tasks and a high volume of work on short deadlines and follow through on assigned tasks.
- Retain a high level of flexibility and resourceful problem solving.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
- Typing 60 WPM
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Must have transportation and be able to go to the courthouse or post office.
Educational and Experience Requirements: High School diploma
