Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mental health counseling and experience working with children on the autism spectrum. This role involves providing support, guidance, and therapeutic interventions to individuals with autism and their families, helping them navigate challenges and improve their quality of life.
Duties
- Conduct assessments to evaluate the needs of individuals with autism and develop tailored intervention plans.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on social skills development, emotional regulation, and daily living skills.
- Collaborate with families to create supportive environments that foster growth and independence.
- Utilize evidence-based practices, including motivational interviewing techniques, to encourage positive behavior changes.
- Offer telehealth services as needed to ensure accessibility for clients.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and treatment plans in compliance with organizational policies.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss client progress and adjust treatment strategies as necessary.
Skills
- Strong background in clinical counseling, mental health counseling, or social work.
- Familiarity with gender issues counseling and geriatrics is a plus.
- Experience working with children, particularly those on the autism spectrum, is essential.
- Proficiency in individual group counseling techniques and chronic pain counseling is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
- Ability to utilize telehealth platforms for remote counseling sessions when required.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their families while maintaining professional boundaries.
