SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Technology, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the technology assistant maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots technology systems. Prepares, organizes, maintains inventories, prepares purchase orders, and supports end users on a variety of technical issues, identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides help desk support and technical support to Eaton RESA staff and other constituents onsite/offsite accessing Eaton RESA technology. Support includes face-to-face and remote user methods to address access issues, software assistance and troubleshooting, hardware assistance, and diagnostics. Enters/responds to work orders and arranges for additional technical support as needed.
  • Assists in the evaluation, design, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of technology systems and procedures to support and improve operational effectiveness, e.q. backups, equipment installation, presentation equipment, purchasing, routine maintenance, software installation/updates, printers, copiers, and phone system support.
  • Monitors software and maintenance contracts and licenses. Orders and/or coordinates the ordering of equipment, software, and supplies as needed.
  • Works with assigned staff to track technology assets on an ongoing basis to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Provides technology support for coordinating and implementing meetings, trainings, and other events onsite or offsite, that include audio, video, web/internet access, and presentation equipment.
  • Documents, tracks, monitors, and responds to technology work orders/support requests to ensure a timely resolution.
  • Maintains regular communication with the contracted Technology Director to ensure that technical issues/problems are resolved efficiently.
  • Participates in job-related professional development, required meetings, and training to implement job duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and insurability for travel between work sites. Transport supplies, materials, and equipment as directed.
  • Performs general office support tasks regarding correspondence, filing, mailing, maintenance of inventories, and maintenance/repair records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s degree
  • Two or more years of recent and relevant experience and advanced skills in working with and/or supporting computing devices, applications and databases.
  • Experience with the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of various technology and software operating systems.
  • Experience in working with voice, video and data technology components.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Analytical ability and computer skills to identify and resolve a variety of technology issues as well as evaluate information and situations to determine the appropriate course of action without supervisor approval.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of various integrated computer applications and technology devices.
  • Effective technology, verbal and written communication skills for the creation and compilation of various documents, communications and reports.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to provide effective, responsive and courteous customer service to all administrators, staff and stakeholders.
  • Ability to utilize discretion and sound judgement in handling confidential information and documents.
  • Mental ability to adapt and respond to multiple priorities and demands, adapt to interruptions, work on several projects at the same time, work on tasks requiring accuracy/attention to detail and handle pressures related to multiple deadlines.

PHYSICAL EFFORT & WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standing and walking – the entire shift on a regular basis.
  • Bending – approximately 10% of a regular day.
  • Stooping – infrequently.
  • Lifting – may involve moving/lifting of boxed supplies weighing over 80 lbs.
  • Sitting – up to 15% of a normal day.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work from a ladder or scaffold, etc.
  • It is also anticipated that some level of stress may be associated with this position primarily due to irregular demands for room set-ups, equipment problems and other staff demands. It is necessary that the individual has the capacity to remain calm, considerate and tactful.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Must have the physical strength to lift equipment in and out of vehicles as well as setting up workstations.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, up to and including nights or weekends, when emergencies or other needs dictate.
  • Must provide own transportation for job-related reimbursable travel.
  • The individual must exercise a high level of discretion and confidentiality in dealing with staff, vendors and community members.
