Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensure that assigned CTE programs are rigorous, relevant, technologically advanced and effective in promoting student achievement and preparing students for future employment, training, and/or higher education.
- Supervise and provide support for assigned CTE staff. Manage and implement the staff performance evaluation system in conjunction with the Assistant Superintendent for CTE.
- Serve as the primary administrator for all assigned CTE programs, related activities, field trips, student organizations, and competitions.
- Serve as the primary administrator for the daily operation of the assigned Career Preparation Center programs, including instructional services, transportation, and facility related needs while coordinating with local school districts, community partners, and contracted services.
- Provide technical assistance, leadership and coordination for all assigned CTE programs to meet state and/or federal guidelines/requirements.
- Provide oversight, coordination and implementation of the assigned Capital Region Technical Early College programs including post-secondary partnerships, program development, enrollment, recruitment, and scheduling.
- Provide support and leadership to assigned CTE staff with implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to assist all students in attaining college and career readiness outcomes.
- Implement the district’s selection and hiring processes to recruit and employ qualified staff.
- Provides oversight, coordination and implementation of curriculum compliance and CTEIS support.
- Identify, collect and maintain records, documents, data and information related to operation of assigned CTE programs, student enrollment, student discipline, certifications, student attendance and grades as required or requested.
- Plans, develops and implements professional development activities and CTE initiatives which are in alignment with the goals and strategies of the district’s strategic plan and the Eaton RESA CTE Advisory Committee.
- Assists with evaluation and improvement of assigned CTE programs and services operated by Eaton RESA.
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with stakeholders across CTE Region 14, local districts, program partners as well as business/industry partners.
- Provide leadership for the integration of CTE with programs and services available through Eaton RESA’s general and special education departments.
- Develop, implement and manage assigned CTE budgets and purchasing procedures for CPC programs.
- Provide support for program Advisory Committee activities and meetings.
- Assist instructors in maintaining up-to-date curriculum in accordance with new graduation requirements
- Monitor CTE curriculum and instruction to make certain that technical curricula delivered in programs addresses all standards within each CIP.
- Assure that all reports are submitted accurately in CTEIS.
- Monitor academic curricula and instruction to make certain that academic courses delivered address Common Core State Standards in ELA and math.
- Facilitate new program application process as new CIPs are added to Eaton RESA Career-Prep Center (CPC) offerings and LEAs.
- Stay informed of communiques from MDE Office of Career and Technical Education impacting CTE curriculum and instruction. Communicate information to technical instructors impacted by issues, CIP changes, and standards revisions.
- Facilitate assessment processes/protocols such as pre/post-tests, and order testing material. Supervise and train testing proctors and support staff responsible for scoring tests and disseminating results. Communicate with parents, high schools, and various agencies regarding the nature of tests and resulting reports. Generate data reports evidencing student performance.
- Maintain data and records necessary for TRAC (Technical Review Assistance and Compliance) audit as required by MDE Office of Career and Technical Education.
- Assist with technical and academic instructors with maintaining TRAC folders and annual uploading to GEMS CIP Self-Review for each technical program.
- Oversee CTEIS, CTE credentials and prepare data for annual reports.
- Provide backup support and/or substitute coverage for the Assistant Superintendent for CTE and/CTE Director-Early College/Principal as needed.

Qualifications
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS (If Applicable):
Required:
- Possess current Michigan Administrator Certification or are enrolled in a program leading to certification as a school administrator.
- Possess a Michigan Teacher Certificate with a Standard or Professional CTE Certificate.
- Meets approval criteria or has current approval as a local CTE Administrator based on requirements established by the Michigan Department of Education and Office of Career and Technical Education.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
- Possession of a master’s degree in administration, supervision, education or other CTE related area.
- Three years or more experience in administering and/or teaching in CTE programs at the secondary level.
- Master’s degree in administration, supervision, education or other CTE related area.
- Three (3) years or more experience as a high school assistant principal or principal.
- Advanced knowledge of CTE programs and services.
- Advanced knowledge of state and federal mandates that impact secondary education, career/technical education, higher education and workforce development.
- Knowledge of research- and evidence-based practices within CTE programs, college and career readiness, and services/initiatives.
- Knowledge of the application of an MTSS framework and the continuum of behavioral and academic supports needed at the secondary level to support student learning and engagement.
- Skills with supervisory functions such as performance evaluation, resource deployment, budget development/management, data-driven decision making, problem-solving, coaching, and conflict management.
- Ability to interpret and implement district policies and procedures to address state and federal mandates.
- Ability to effectively manage projects, take initiative, exercise independent judgment and work collaboratively within varied team compositions and across stakeholder groups as a leader or team member.
- Ability to collect and use data within a strategic planning and continuous improvement process to inform and adjust CTE programs/services.
- Ability to use interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences and gain the cooperation of others internally and externally.
