What are the responsibilities and job description for the Continuous Improvement Manager position at Eaton?
Eaton is seeking a regional Continuous Improvement Manager for our Vehicle Group North America (VGNA) division. This position may be based at our Southfield, MI; Galesburg, MI; South Bend, IN or Kings Mountain, NC facility. Relocation assistance will be provided.
Reporting to the VP of Manufacturing for VGNA, the incumbent will be responsible for building a culture for Continuous Improvement across four manufacturing sites in US and Mexico . The CI Leader will leverage Lean/Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement Framework strategies to improve competitiveness and organizational capability to meet both short- and long-term goals. Travel up to 50% will be required (US and Mexico).
In this role you will:
- Coach and support the plants in developing their CI roadmaps and setting stretch goals to support the organization's strategy for model plant status
- Conducts Eaton Lean System (ELS) assessments, and identifies performance gaps. Works through the leadership team to prioritize improvement activities and close gaps
- Conduct reviews and process checks to ensure sites are maintaining their standards and action plans are in place to move to improve
- Leads improvement activities including training, mentoring, facilitating Kaizen events, Six Sigma projects, tool deployment, benchmarking, etc.
- Support Site Leadership in the selection of Site CI leaders and provide key input to identify potential candidates for CI certification programs to feed succession planning and development planning
- Lead the division in all Eaton business internal audit requirements, ensuring plant teams are prepared
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required. Master’s degree is preferred
- Minimum 8 years of experience with progressive levels of accountability and responsibility in Manufacturing/Operations, Continuous Improvement, and/or Manufacturing Engineering is required
- Formal training/certification in Lean (5S, Standard work, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Setup Reduction (SUR), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean Material Flow (LMF) and 6 Sigma with at least 5 years of related experience
- Experience managing/leading others in a manufacturing setting
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
