Position Overview: We are a dynamic organization seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and hands-on Controller to join our team. As the Controller, you will report directly to the CFO and be integral to our financial management processes. You will be responsible for overseeing financial accounting practices, maintaining fiscal records, and preparing detailed financial reports. This role will involve managing the timely month-end close process, consolidation, and reporting of financial results. You will also support due diligence efforts, as well as coordinate audits and tax returns with external accounting partners. Your expertise and leadership will contribute significantly to the financial health and success of our organization.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review income and expense general ledger entries for appropriateness and ensure all entries have been made, accrued, or prepaid before month-end close.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly general ledger reconciliations.
- Perform various accounting and financial control functions in line with company policies and procedures.
- Analyze monthly financial reports and provide insights for decision-making.
- Act as a thought leader, providing analytical support to the CFO, leadership team, and operating management.
- Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and Board reports in compliance with GAAP.
- Lead the monthly financial close process, including the recording of journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
- Manage the annual audit process with the company’s audit firm, serving as the primary liaison to independent auditors, and ensuring successful completion within established timeframes.
- Participate in the due diligence process for potential acquisitions and lead the integration of accounting functions for newly acquired companies.
- Work closely with the CFO to maintain the integrity of the accounting system and implement best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA Certification highly preferred).
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus.
- 7 years of solid experience in general accounting with a comprehensive understanding of accounting operations.
- Broad knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Proficient in managing the general ledger and executing month-end and year-end financial procedures.
- Experience researching and documenting the accounting treatment of complex issues.
- Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with growth-minded organizations and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) is a plus.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A keen eye for detail and precision in all tasks.
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.
