Job Overview
Under general direction, will provide distribution project support for various projects simultaneously. The candidate is knowledgeable about the details of current distribution projects, working closely with designers and technicians to support any aspect of the current distribution projects, including reporting and tracking. Coordinates with department leads, ensuring that project timelines are met successfully; coordinates assigned activities with other divisions and outside agencies, small businesses, residents, and other applicants involved; and performs related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions of Position:
- Will understand the process of planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating projects and operations within the Distribution Engineering Department, including Permit Triage, Permit Reviews, PIP, Hardening, and Streetlights.
- Coordinates and tracks the progress of distribution programs, which may at times involve communicating with outside agencies, customers, and the general public.
- Integrates and helps facilitate utility program planning to support the Distribution Engineering Department; assists and participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating plans, work processes, and systems for future projects.
- May respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive customer inquiries and complaints, providing general and technical information and assistance to customers and designers.
- Tracks plan submissions through plan checking to ensure timely response and turn-around time; prepares statistical reports on a weekly/monthly basis for submission to supervisors; coordinates with other distribution engineering departments.
- Oversees the implementation and system maintenance of tracking software; trains employees on the use of the system.
- General knowledge of site plans, architectural, structural, and construction plans, environmental assessment reports, and calculations submitted concerning current projects.
- Participates in training, motivating, and evaluating assigned personnel; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies.
- Provides leadership and work with staff to ensure a high-performance, customer-service-oriented work environment through selection, training, and day-to-day management practices supporting the department's mission, objectives, and values.
- Identifies opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; facilitates in-house committees and focus groups to develop improved processes as needed; recommends appropriate services and staffing levels within departmental policy.
- Maintains current knowledge of new trends and innovations in the field; attends and participates in professional group meetings; participates in professional development activities; reads publications relevant to the area of assignment.
- Performs related duties as required.

Other Job Functions:
- .Familiarity with electric utility design and construction standards and practices
- Familiarity with large Florida electrical utility systems and processes including, but not limited to, WMS, DM/EO, Drawing Viewer, AMG processes, RSV, etc.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office: Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP), Outlook, etc.
- Wide perspective on how designs impact construction, customer outreach, cost, permitting, and material needs. As well as goals of other large Florida electrical utility teams like Operations, Planning, Hardening initiatives, etc.

Position Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (major coursework in engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred),
- One (1) year of administrative or lead supervisory responsibility.
- Experience in construction and/or project management will also be considered as qualifying experience.
- Experience will be counted toward education on a year-for-year basis
