Nursing Supervisor Role Summary:
The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing patient care and managing nursing staff to ensure quality and efficient operations within a healthcare facility. This role requires strong clinical and administrative leadership, effective communication, and the ability to assess patient needs while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
**Key Responsibilities:**
Allocate resources to promote efficient patient care.
Provide clinical and administrative leadership and expertise.
Foster effective interdisciplinary team relationships.
Promote the profession of nursing and professional practice.
Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner.
In the absence of higher administrative personnel, make administrative decisions and notify the Administrator-on-Call.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree or currently enrolled in such a program.
Current Registered Nurse license from the State of Connecticut.
Certification highly desirable.
Three (3) years of nursing experience in an acute care setting with demonstrated leadership potential.
Essential Duties and Competencies:
Visit patient care units to evaluate condition of patients and provide support to caregivers.
Administer personnel distribution and utilization during respective shifts.
Evaluate patient care quality and participate in quality improvement projects.
Perform necessary data collection and audits for quality and regulatory compliance.
Keeper of the Nurse Executive, Administrator-on-call informed regarding circumstances or situations impacting the hospital.
Assess patient placement and care needs from a global hospital perspective.
Participate in nursing and organizational policy formulation through councils and committees.
Follow Pharmacy protocols for obtaining drugs when the Pharmacist is unavailable.
Respond to emergent situations and coordinate staff response.
Promote patient satisfaction through high-quality patient care and regular patient rounds.
