**Speech Language Pathologist - Per Diem at ECHN**
Summary:
We are seeking a per diem Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As a per diem Speech Language Pathologist, you will evaluate patients and implement tailored treatment plans to enhance their speech and language functions. You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams, supervise students, and provide patient and family education to promote independent functional activities.
Job Description:
Evaluating Patients and Developing Treatment Plans
- Evaluate patients based on departmental standards.
- Conduct and modify evaluations based on the patient's symptoms, level of activity, and medical status establishing individualized, appropriate, measurable goals for each patient.
Treating Patients and Administering Therapeutic Techniques
- Treats patients with the appropriate and acceptable therapeutic techniques.
- Administers physical agents (modalities) and manual therapeutic technique to attain established goals.
Providing Patient Education and Support
- Utilizes effective techniques to assist in normalizing speech and language activity.
- Educates patients/families in home exercise programs and/or functional activities in order to maximize independent functional activity.
Communication and Documentation
- Determines when a patient has achieved maximal benefit from treatment and recommends discharge if appropriate.
- Documents in accordance to insurance guidelines and adheres to the department's policies and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
- Seeks and fosters interdepartmental communication and communication with the referring physician regarding patient care as evidenced by observation, and chart review.
- Accurately and consistently fills out and submits charges daily.
- Adheres to the professional code of ethics established by the ASHA and the facility at all times as evidenced by observation.
- Performs all duties with proper body mechanics and safety to prevent injuries.
- Supervises at least one affiliated student per year.
- Attends a continuing education course to further/improve treatment techniques.
- Participates in at least one departmental in-service, or community in-service as evidenced by documentation of educational program.
