Speech Pathologist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Speech Pathologist to join our team at ECHN. As a Speech Pathologist, you will provide evaluations and treatments to patients to improve or restore their speech and language functions. You will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and contribute to community education while supervising students.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluates patients based on departmental standards
- Conducts and modifies evaluations based on patient symptoms, level of activity, and medical status
- Treats patients with appropriate therapeutic techniques
- Administers physical agents and manual therapeutic techniques
- Utilizes effective techniques to assist in normalizing speech and language activity
- Educates patients and families in home exercise programs and functional activities
- Determines when a patient has achieved maximal benefit from treatment and recommends discharge if appropriate
- Documents patient care in accordance with insurance guidelines and facility policies
- Fosters interdepartmental communication and communicates with referring physicians regarding patient care
- Accurately fills out and submits charges daily
- Adheres to professional code of ethics established by ASHA and the facility
- Performs all duties with proper body mechanics and safety to prevent injuries
- Supervises affiliated students and attends continuing education courses
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited program of Speech Language Pathology with a minimum of a M.S.
- Holds current Connecticut license for Speech Language Pathology
- Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association
- Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
- Basic personal computer skills in Windows-based programs such as Word, Outlook, and Excel
