What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cleaning Room - 3rd Shift position at Eck Industries Inc?
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The cleaning room cell operator will decore, remove gates, and remove risers from aluminum castings. Additionally, they will grind burrs, sand parting lines and chills, and inspect each casting for acceptance after cleaning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lift and secure aluminum castings on tables or chucks using clamps.
- Set up, operate, or tend grinding tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharp edges or corners.
- Other tools used include, but are not limited to, hand hammer, air chipping hammer with chisel bit, peening hammer, drum sander, disk sander, etc.
- May be required to use an Electric Sawzall for internal spaces between certain casting fins.
- Saw off gating and risers.
- Reprocess work.
- Use hoist assist with large castings.
- Study work instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences.
- Inspect finished workpieces to determine conformance to work instructions, using measuring instruments such as gauges or micrometers when applicable
- Complete daily inspections on tools and equipment, filling out forms when required to do so.
- Maintain housekeeping in the work area at the end of each shift.
- Maintain area per established 6S standards.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisory or leadman personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
At least one year of experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required.
