With approximately 300 lawyers across a network of 15 offices, we provide clients with proactive, solution-oriented business and litigation counsel. We are seeking an experienced Director of Knowledge Management.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Participates in the selection process and decision for positions within the department
- Responsible for the training of new department staff
- Manage the daily workflow within the team
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
- Manage and approve timecards and time off as necessary
- Provide first level discipline and conflict resolution
- Support professional development and continued educational opportunities

Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the Knowledge Management team
- Develop and implement a KM strategy aligned with the firm’s goals and objectives
- Ensure that the Firm effectively captures, organizes, and disseminates knowledge and information to enhance the quality and efficiency of legal services
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology and best practices to enhance knowledge sharing and collaboration
- Design and implement processes for capturing, organizing, and indexing internal knowledge resources including legal precedents, briefs, memos, templates, and research materials
- Create a centralized knowledge repository to facilitate easy access and retrieval of information by attorneys and staff
- Ensure that KM practices and systems comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Manage library and research services firmwide; establish library procedures to ensure efficient and cost-effective library operations
- Prepare and oversee departmental budget
- Negotiate and manage contracts for electronic research services, including legal, business, public records, and docket monitoring databases
- Manage subscriptions for electronic legal news and niche information services for specific practice groups
- Approve purchases and renewals of library print materials
- Consult with practice group leaders to ensure resources and services adequately support attorneys’ work and clients’ requirements
- Work with practice group leaders to organize their information
- Coordinate legal research training programs for attorneys and staff
- Advise attorneys and paralegals on research strategies and best practices; meet with new attorneys and paralegals during firm onboarding
- Collaborate with Business Development & Marketing, Conflicts, IT, Finance, and other departments to support strategic growth of the firm
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in knowledge management, preferably within a legal or professional services environment
- Bachelor’s degree or MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited library school; JD or advanced degree preferred
- Supervisory experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
Travel expectation:
- Less than 10%
