Summary:
The EHS & Human Resources Generalist monitor and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with safety-related regulations. This position provides day-to-day tactical support, in addition to the planning, development, administration and management of safety policies, programs and training for the organization, in partnership with the Director of Human Resources. The position requires working knowledge of federal and state laws and the ability to identify and evaluate hazards. This position will also monitor the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards and training of employees on safety policies, procedures and regulations. Verifies compliance within health and safety regulations and ensures all necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Manages the participation in Occupational Safety and Health Administration )OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Acts as advisor to manufacturing management regarding EHS projects, tasks and operations. Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Relies on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. In the event of a workplace injury, the EHS generalist would investigate workplace injuries, coordinate with insurance providers, and ensure compliance with relevant laws, facilitating employee return-to-work strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
o Assists, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
o Advises Human Resources Director of on environmental, health and safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
o Plans and implements training for employees in work site safety practices. Conducts New Onboarding Safety Orientation.
o Maintains safety and medical records files.
o Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventative measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
o Conducts post accident investigations and prepares reports, including workman compensation report.
o Post accident transportation of injured employee to medical facility if required.
o Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.
o Ensure regulatory environmental, health and safety reports and permits are completed and submitted in a timely manner.
o Serve as primary contact for all regulatory agencies for inspections, permitting and reporting.
o Work with operation’s to maintain, update and/or develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for safe work practices and procedures throughout the organization.
o Keep abreast of safety and environmental laws and regulations that impace the organization.
o Participate in Engineering safety review of new and modified equipment.
o Report incidents to the Worker’s Compensation provider. Coordinate required medical care and return to work procedures with employees.
o Manage EHS programs including cost control/reduction and accident prevention/reduction.
o Conduct required monthly as well as new hire environmental, health and safety training.
o Performs other related duties or projects as assigned.
Facility Specific Responsibilities:
o Walk the manufacturing floor on a regular basis at New Window, Glass Production, and New Windows, on a regular basis to establish EHS presence and provide support.
o Conduct daily and monthly EHS meetings/trainings and schedule as needed.
o Perform facility EHS inspections.
o Ability to evaluate PPE and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE.
o Have knowledge and enforce compliance of regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA, EPA, DOT, FLDEP, et), including company policies and procedures.
o Ability to oversee Hazardous Waste Sorate areas and ensure regulatory agency compliance (i.e. labeling containment, proper disposal, documentation, etc)
o Assist in emergency response and provide first aid treatment
o Oversee Behavior Based/Observation Safety Programs
o Help develop Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs)
o Assist in administrating and maintaining compliance programs such as LOTO, Hazcom, Drug Free Workplace, Hearing Conservation, Hot Work, Confied Space, Respiratory Protection, BBP, etc.
o Perform additional duties as assigned by Director of Human Resources.

Qualifications
o Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or three to five years minimum related experience an or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
o Previous glass & manufacturing experience helpful.
o Proficient in MS Office Suite and other commonly used software programs.
o Experience in OSHA/MSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory requirements
o Florida issued Class E driver’s license with a clean driving record; required.
o CDL License is preferred
o Ability to operate a forklift, preferred
o Bilingual verbal in both English and Spanish
o Excellent written skills in English
o Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification, preferred. Ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
o OSHA 40 hour certification, preferred. Ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
Travel Requirements:
o This position will require local travel on a regular basis to the various plant locations. As the business expands, additional travel may be required.
Salary : $52,000 - $70,000
