I. Position Description
Assigns motor vehicles and drivers for conveyance of freight by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compiles list of vehicles. Assigns vehicles according to factors such as length of and purpose of trip, freight, and preference of customer or vendor.
- Monitors time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return. Investigates overdue vehicles. Directs activities of drivers. Maintains record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses.
- Confers with customers and vendors to expedite or locate missing, delayed, or damaged merchandise.
- Inspects to ensure compliance with shipping / receiving inbound and outbound specifications.
- Compiles information and completes the weekly truck mileage report.
- Generates driver payroll; submits weekly timesheets to HR / PR Coordinator on timely basis.
- Complies with all DOT, Environmental, Health, Safety and Housekeeping Programs.
- Assists with duties of Shipping / Receiving Clerks.
- Maintains vehicle maintenance and permitting.
- Maintains driver compliance files.
- Assigns job assignments to drivers.
- Performs other duties, as assigned or deemed necessary.

A. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 60 pounds.
