The Opportunity
Econometrica is looking for an experienced Billing Specialist/Staff Accountant to support the accounting and finance group within the company.
As our billing specialist, you'll manage the monthly invoices for our firm. You will be responsible for collecting information to process invoices, monitor outstanding balances, and ensure each account is paid in full. You'll also oversee numerous client accounts on our network, helping us track the transactions for each one and updating our system accordingly.
You will be responsible for the integrity of the information and will assist clients by answering inquiries. In addition, you may be asked to work with accounts payable and provide various clerical support tasks such as handling calls and correspondence and organizing files.
Responsibilities:
- Create and send invoices to clients based on the services they've used
- Ensure the accuracy of billing data and pricing
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, late payments, and other issues
- Respond to billing inquiries and send payment reminders to clients
- Generating monthly and quarterly reports on invoices and outstanding balances
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure billing accuracy
- Abide by all company policies, regulations, and work procedures
Requirements:
- Previous government contracting experience.
- Understand different contract billing requirement such as Time and Material, Firm-Fixed Price, Cost Plus Fixed Fee, etc
- Strong Excel skills are required.
- Experience and knowledge of time keeping
- Experience and knowledge of full accounts payable cycle (processing invoices, employee expense reimbursement, getting approval, check disbursements and processing 1099s)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Well organized, strong attention to detail and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Strong ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years using Deltek Costpoint
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
- Experience working with FFP, T & M and CPFF Contracts and Job Cost Accounting a MUST
- Professional certifications are preferred

Work Environment
This position is hybrid and requires presence in the Bethesda office at least three or more days per week.
The office is located at a Metro stop in beautiful downtown Bethesda, MD, within walking distance of great restaurants and local fare. We have a typical office setting with a quiet to moderate noise level.
