As a Housing Specialist, you’ll guide families through the housing process, overcoming barriers and securing stable living situations. You’ll also build relationships with housing authorities and landlords to expand opportunities for our participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with heads of household to assess housing needs and address potential barriers like credit issues or past tenancy problems.
- Guide participants through housing interviews, viewings, and lease signings.
- Educate participants on housing options, tenant rights, and lease obligations.
- Develop strong partnerships with landlords and housing authorities to broaden housing options.
- Maintain accurate records of participants’ housing efforts and update internal systems regularly.
- Work closely with program mentors to ensure participants receive comprehensive support.
- 1-3 years of experience in property management, leasing, or housing search.
- Knowledge of housing subsidies and programs, with experience in homeless and housing issues.
- Ability to speak Haitian Creole required.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within Boston.
- Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and a commitment to working effectively with diverse populations.
