ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Economic Mobility coach goes beyond case management and is the primary point of contact and part of a dynamic team co-investing with participants, using Mobility Mentoring®—an internationally recognized economic coaching approach, with goalsetting at its center.
EMPath provides inclusive professional development, equitable wages, in-person direct services, research-informed coaching practices and reflection, and strategic policy advocacy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Routinely assists participants with housing placement opportunities.
- Provides one-to-one Mobility Mentoring coaching to participants on goals related to upward economic mobility, including housing, budgeting, career and education, child care, health care, and more.
- Conducts detailed assessments to identify each family’s strengths, needs, and establishes individual mobility goals, while monitoring and documenting progress on individualized plans.
- Maintains a strong sense of emotional intelligence, reliability, and flexibility to navigate complex issues with sound reasoning.
- Communicates effectively to a wide array of audiences from participants to external stakeholders.
- Adheres to Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (HLC) contractual requirements.
- Completes weekly and accurate service documentation; maintains data management records and assists with program reporting tracking elements
- Cooperates with participants to resolve challenges and makes referrals to EMPath specialists in areas where more intensive support is needed.
- Utilizes a trauma-informed and trust-centered orientation coaching strategy
- Maintains resourcefulness and ensures referrals are made in collaboration with internal and external resources.
- Follows all EMPath and HLC policies and procedures including emergency preparedness, fitness of habitability, and others, as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Bilingual speakers in Haitian Creole or Spanish required
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred
- 1 -3 years of experience in case management, direct homeless services, or life skills coaching
- Basic understanding of coaching, motivational interviewing, and mentoring practices and skills.
- Basic knowledge of case management principles and community resources.
- Cultural competency and ability to establish effective professional relationships with diverse group of clients.
- Knowledge of homelessness, housing subsidies, and other housing issues.
- Strong mediation, crisis intervention, negotiation, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle a variety of assignments and have flexibility to work some evenings if necessary.
- Strong organizational skills and high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
25% local travel - This role requires travel to participants in scattered sites. A driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is required. EMPath reimburses for work related mileage.

Pay transparency: This role is budgeted up to $52,000 annually.
