For over 50 years, the EOC of Nassau County Inc., has provided programs and services to low-income Nassau County residents. During the past year, approximately 41,000 unduplicated low-income children, youth, individuals, and families accessed EOC Programs and services. As a Community Action Agency, the EOC of Nassau County, Inc., is a direct support for the County's residents who live at or below the federal poverty level. This includes those who are recognized as "working poor".
Job Description
- Assist the Teacher in supervising children in the classroom, all Head Start Program areas (inclusive of bathrooms) and outdoor play areas; during the day-to-day program operations. Consistently maintaining ongoing accountability and supervision of children in care.
- Support the ongoing social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of all children in care.
- Assist the Teacher in maintaining children’s records and planning lessons based on individual and group needs.
- Cooperating with all staff personnel in protecting the health, safety, and well-being of children.
- Assist at parent meetings and other meetings regarding child development.
- Assist Teacher in implementing all of the Head Start School Readiness Domains (that are aligned with Early Learning Standards) to increase child outcomes in early learning and successfully prepare children for transitioning into the kindergarten setting.
- Participate in scheduled workshops, in-service trainings and formal trainings (both individual and small group as required or requested).
- To carry out Head Start Performance Standards in accordance with all discipline areas.
- Any other duties deemed necessary by the CEO/Executive Director or Senior Management and all program activities as it relates to the Mission of the Agency.
· In accordance with the Head Start Performance standards 1302.91, is willing to participate and benefit from Intensive Practice Based Coaching to enhance and strengthen Professional Development and Teaching Practices in the classroom setting.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be vaccinated
- Prior experience or knowledge working with young children.
- High School Diploma or GED. Current Child Development Associate (CDA) or enrolled in CDA Class and will obtain credential
- Show warmth and understanding in working with children and adults of all ethnic background.
- Ability to work well in team relationship (i.e. Teacher, Family Service Worker, Supervisor.)
- Good health
- Ability to speak effectively.
- Ability to write effectively.
- Interested in learning.
- Computer literate
- Ability to complete the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credentialing Program.
