Environmental Safety Specialist - Job Description
Ecotech exists to provide safe, valuable and trustworthy services through investment in our employees and customers, while building long-term relationships to protect our environment and underground infrastructure.
Ecotech Hydro Excavation LLC, is a certified women owned small business, specializing in hydro and air excavation, utility locating and environmental services across the Mid-Atlantic region. The company is based out of Quarryville, PA and operates in the following states: Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and New Jersey. PLEASE NOTE that due to the safety sensitivity of our work we are required to complete Background Checks, Pull Driving Records, and have employees pass a pre-employment drug screen.
The company is growing and looking to add an Environmental Safety Specialist to the team. The Environmental Safety Specialist will manage the safety program for environmental projects. They should be well versed in safe operating procedures as well as utility and industrial waste streams and the hazards associated. This position may require some daily travel to various job sites.
Responsibilities and Duties
- The Environmental Safety Specialist will be responsible for the safety program for Environmental projects, advises on safe operating procedures and industrial waste stream hazards including chemical exposure potential.
- Updating and developing Health and Safety Plan and procedures as regulations change or new policies are added.
- Ability to both lead and participate in company trainings.
- Lead and participate in the investigation and reporting of workplace incidents and near misses.
- Safety Training and Responsibility: Identifies and coordinates various health and safety trainings, ensuring employees on jobsites are properly trained, PPE is properly worn, stored and consistent with the requirements of the Health and Safety Plan
- Timely and Diligent Performance: Execute all assigned tasks in a timely and diligent manner.
- Effective Communication: Demonstrate effective communication skills when interacting with company owners, management, other employees, customers, and the general public, ensuring courteous and respectful engagement.
- Professional Conduct: Conduct yourself in a manner that positively represents both yourself and Ecotech.
- Proactive Reporting: Report any issues that may impact the company or its employees to management immediately upon discovery.
- Organizational and Technical Skills: Maintain organizational skills and possess the necessary computer proficiency.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Environmental Health and Safety.
- 5 years of experience in an Environmental, Health, and Safety position with an Environmental background
- Strong knowledge of compliance of Regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA, EPA, RCRA, TSCA etc.)
- Certifications: Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER and HAZWOPER Supervisor, CSP and CHMM Certifications preferred.
- Must be willing and able to wear company-provided personal protection equipment (PPE).
- Safety Priority: Must prioritize safety as a critical aspect of work.
