Position Summary :

The Human Resources (HR) Director plays a key role in the organization by maintaining responsibility for the overall coordination, administration, and evaluation of numerous core human resources functions that include HR strategy, recruiting and staffing, benefits, compensation, performance management, staff training and development, organizational development, employee relations, compliance, and safety and security.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

HR Strategy

  • Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership to ensure company-wide decisions are made in partnership with the HR function.
  • Identify opportunities to support the evolving needs of the business through the implementation of various programs and initiatives required to enable the organization’s strategy.
  • Identify ways to help the company better utilize its resources by increasing morale, improving productivity, and reducing costs while maintaining or improving employee services.

Recruiting & Staffing

  • Play an instrumental role in the talent management function, managing all aspects of hiring and retaining staff.
  • Establish and lead the recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire a superior workforce.
  • Benefits

  • Obtain cost-effective, employee-serving benefits and monitor the benefits environment / landscape for options and cost savings.
  • Recommend changes in benefits offered, especially new benefits aimed at employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Compensation

  • Establish the company wage and salary structure and pay policies; oversee variable pay systems, including bonuses and raises.
  • Lead competitive market research to establish pay practices and pay bands that help to recruit and retain superior staff.
  • Monitor all pay practices and systems for effectiveness and cost containment.
  • Performance Management

  • Lead the implementation of the performance management process to ensure it is designed and executed to contribute to the overall success of the organization.
  • Review the performance management system annually, identify areas for improvement, and lead the implementation of these improvements.
  • Training & Development

  • Lead the identification and implementation of all training programs across the company and ensure alignment with company strategy.
  • Organizational Development

  • Design, direct, and manage a company-wide process of organization development, including succession planning, superior workforce development, key employee retention, organization design, and change management.
  • Direct a process of organizational planning that evaluates company structure, job design, and personnel forecasting throughout.
  • Identify and monitor the company's culture so it supports the attainment of the company's goals and promotes employee satisfaction.
  • Employee Relations

  • Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, mediating disputes, conducting performance counseling and terminations, and administering other disciplinary procedures as required.
  • Partner with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws.
  • Determine and recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
  • Compliance

  • Lead key aspects of company compliance, including ensuring the protection of employee and corporate interests in accordance with human resources policies and governmental laws and regulations (e.g., ensuring and tracking employee compliance with HIPAA guidelines).
  • Maintain and ensure facility policy and procedure manuals are complete and up to date, including working with the management committee to maintain the AMP / RMA Employee Handbook.
  • Compile data to complete the company’s annual EEO Action Plan; educate owners / leadership on AMP / RAM responsibility for compliance.
  • Safety & Security

  • Lead the company’s safety and health programs, ensuring compliance with all federal and other applicable mandates.
  • Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development, or equivalent experience required.
  • 8-10 years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions strongly preferred.
  • Professional human resources certification preferred.
  • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations preferred.
  • Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement are preferred.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, employee benefits and compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, and training and development
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop Human Resources staff members
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a successful participant on an executive management team, providing organizational leadership and direction
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment; must include Excel and skills in database management and recordkeeping
  • General knowledge of various employment laws and practices
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Excellent organizational skills
