The base salary range for this position in as for the job description criteria as listed is $130,000 to $150,0000 annually.
Our salary ranges are determined by market data based on position and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum salaries for that position. Where an individual's pay falls within the range is determined by factors including, but not limited to, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
In some cases, compensation may fall outside of this range depending on factors, including a candidate's qualification, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
Position Overview:
West Coast HRBP will be responsible for 3 Ecoservices locations including Martinez, CA, Dominguez, CA and Portland, OR with a head count of approximately 110 employees in total both union and nonunion. In this role the HRBP will consult with the Plant Leadership teams, key stakeholders and employees to support and provide recommendations on strategic HR solutions and programs that improve business outcomes.
**30%Travel will include going to Martinez, CA and Portland, OR**
What you will be doing:
- Develop and Execute HR and business strategies
- Ensures compliance with employment laws, benefits, insurance, safety
- Coach line management in the various HR strategies so there is alignment
- Engage with site management/leadership to ensure operational decisions are aligned with HR philosophy and strategic direction. Influence decisions from operation management that are consistent with the HR strategy, appropriate risk recognition/mitigation and relevant labor law
- Maintain a strong partnership with talent acquisition and engage with site leadership to align recruiting needs.
- Assist in the interviewing process
- Assist managers in developing job descriptions that align with department goals, culture and corporate standards
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with the Unions and work with them on resolving grievances and support successful negotiation of contracts
- Conduct detailed investigations into complex issues and influence operating management on recommended corrective action with a strong focus on root cause analysis
- Develop positive employee relations strategies to maintain a union free environment in our non-union plants
- Support the development of a Labor Relations strategy to maintain our positive relationships with the sites that have unions
- Provide training and support to managers and supervisors regarding their responsibilities in the performance management and career development areas for their reports
- Coordinate with the Director of Total Rewards on issues within the area of responsibility
- Support training development. Periodically train sites as needed on HR and business
- related topics.
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources/labor relations or related field
- Minimum of 5 plus years relevant HR Business Partner experience supporting union and nonunion manufacturing operations preferably in the oil or chemical industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to all audience levels
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple ongoing issues and priorities
- Detailed understanding of CA state employment law
- Demonstrated problem solving skills with strong investigation and root cause analysis skills
- Ability to travel 30% of the time to the assigned plants
- Basic level of business acumen to translate business needs to HR initiatives.
- Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, and human resources with a strong knowledge of CA employment law
- Must have solid understanding of employment laws and NLRA to perform the responsibilities of the position
- Previous negotiations experience required
