System Architect

ECS is seeking a System Architect to work in our Fairfax, VA office.

ECS is seeking talented professionals to join our successful and growing team in building the next-generation Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Cyber data solution. The CDM Program is the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's (CISA) dynamic approach to strengthening the cybersecurity of Federal networks and systems through better awareness and visibility into their security posture and cyber threats. ECS is responsible for designing, building, deploying, operating, and maintaining a complete ‘Data Services' solution which includes the collection, normalization, visualization, and sharing of cyber data from more than 100 Federal agencies. The CDM Data Services product is an integrated suite of multiple Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products, software configuration packages, and custom code which work together to operate as an integrated solution tailored to meet Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requirements.

ECS is seeking a talented System Architect to serve as an architecture and system design subject matter expert. Effective architecture begins with a deep understanding of requirements and customer needs and matches them with technology and processes aligned with architecture principles. The Architect will manage enterprise architecture efforts to include high level system design, prototyping, proofs of concept, and future state architecture solutioning. The successful candidate will work closely with technical leaders, program leads, and solution engineers to ensure best practices and effective engineering when modernizing and delivering the solution.

The ideal candidate will be capable of reviewing, analyzing, and validating initial stakeholder requests, evaluating technologies, and providing feedback and guidance on solution design. The candidate will work across teams, providing design context to help define and deliver solution capabilities. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of technology and significant hands-on experience building proofs of concept to demonstrate functionality along with developing supporting documentation. They will have significant hands-on experience developing production solutions, and motivation to explore problems to find creative solutions and grow existing skillsets.

• Develop and maintain high level system design artifacts (i.e., plans, designs, workflows)
• Translate customer requirements into operational solutions aligned with program policies and vision
• Work across teams to develop engineering plans, guide implementations, and inform engineering decision making
• Research, evaluate, and build prototypes of current and future system capabilities
• Provide analysis, presentations, and demonstrations of current and future capabilities
• Support cross team efforts to build capacity and financial plans

• US citizenship with ability to obtain Public Trust Suitability
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 5 years managing, designing, building, and implementing enterprise technology solutions
• 5 years supporting Private, Commercial, and/or Hybrid Cloud deployments
• 3 years AWS cloud experience (GovCloud preferred), deploying compute, storage, and other native service offerings
• 3 years producing architecture and designs that implement scalability, performance, and cost-effective solutions
• 2 years incorporating security best practices for system integration and design, such as NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF)
• 3 years delivering technical solutions for government customers on programs of at least $50M in total contract value
• 3 years translating requirements into high level system designs
• 3 years designing and implementing data management technologies
• 3 years integrating systems, services, and/or components through standard or custom APIs
• 4 years producing technical documentation to communicate system designs and technological analysis to both technical and non-technical audiences
