What are the responsibilities and job description for the Subsurface Utilities Location Technician position at ECS Group of Companies?
- Responsible for conducting electromagnetic (EM) utility locates and ground penetrating radar (GPR) surveys to support our geotechnical investigations and engineering projects.
- Work closely with our engineers and project managers to provide accurate and reliable utility locations in support of project planning, design, geotechnical exploration, and construction activities.
- Conduct utility locates using EM and GPR equipment to identify and mark the location of subsurface utilities such as water, gas, sewer, electrical, and communication lines.
- Perform ground penetrating radar (GPR) surveys to evaluate subsurface conditions, including locating voids, underground storage tanks (UST), utilities, and other subsurface features.
- Interpret and analyze GPR data to generate detailed reports and drawings that provide recommendations for construction design and planning.
- Coordinate findings with engineering staff and prepare reports related to utility locating and GPR surveys.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior team members as needed.
- Maintain professionalism when engaging with clients and other project stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School or GED required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in utility locating
- Willingness to travel to project sites with occasional overnight “out-of-town” projects.
