Position Summary
A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is a credentialed medical professional with academic and clinical experience to provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. The scope of practice includes those procedures, acts and processes permitted by law, for which the individual has received education and clinical experience and completed ARDMS or ARRT (US) registration.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality diagnostic sonographic exams using various ultrasound modalities
- Prepare patients for exams, including explaining procedures and positioning them correctly
- Analyze images and results to ensure accuracy and quality
- Maintain accurate records and reports
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide comprehensive patient care
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; higher education preferred
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- ARDMS or ARRT (US) registration required (physics and one specialty exam AB, OB/GYN)
- 8 years of experience as a US technologist (sonographer); additional certifications and training may be beneficial
Work Schedule
This position requires rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays. On-call duties may be required. Please note that this position is listed as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer IV, but candidates who meet the minimum requirements will be considered for positions at various levels, from I to IV.
