About The Outer Banks Hospital
The Outer Banks Hospital is a full-service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The 21-bed facility is designed to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season. Its campus includes four ORs, a medical/surgical unit, a labor & delivery suite with a dedicated caesarian section OR, a full rehabilitation therapy center, cancer treatment and radiation therapy center, and a 24-hour emergency department.
OBH is fully accredited, provides high quality care in a compassionate environment to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay, and has been nationally recognized for outstanding patient care.
Position Summary
The Ambulatory Care Technician is responsible for handling administrative tasks and performs diverse duties for the Emergency Department. Also provides specific basic nursing care to patients, under direct supervision of the nursing staff and director.
Minimum Requirements
Must have High School Diploma or equivalent, successful completion of EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, or EMT-Paramedic program in the state of North Carolina, and carrying a current certification. Also required to have a current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider status upon hire and encouraged to have an AHA PEARS certification (PALS, ENPC or NALS may be substituted for PEARS for EMT-Intermediates and Paramedics).
Knowledge of computer and other office equipment required. Ability to manage numerous projects and set priorities. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant and a CPR certification.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Other Information
This is a PRN (As needed) position with a minimum requirement of one 12hr shift in a six week period.
