Position Summary
- Leads and mentor other engineers in the deployment of Compute and Storage Systems within on Premise (Data Center) and Cloud hosted environments.
- Support and mentor other engineers with ongoing maintenance activities to ensure systems remain current, secure, and operating optimally.
- Maintains system inventory, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Proactivity monitor system performance and capacity to support proactive tuning and expansion.
- Participate in the design and implementation of data protection and cyber resiliency strategies.
- Monitor and remediate issues with data protection and cyber resiliency tools.
- Perform data recovery and resilience testing to support business requirements.
- Leads in identifying opportunities and implementation of automation to streamline efficiency.
- In collaboration with CyberSecurity team, evaluate and recommend security hardening technologies across IT Compute/Storage infrastructure platforms.
- Proactively implement changes to reduce risk and minimize unplanned outage or performance issues.
- Oversees advanced, complex technical projects.
- Evaluates, selects, integrates, and implements new system architectures, systems, tools, and processes.
- Provide root-cause analysis of IT issues (break/fix), documenting findings, and implementing avoidance opportunities.
- Collaborate with team members, colleagues, consultants, and vendors to effectively analyze and resolve complex issues.
- Identifies and follows established processes to ensure that issues are resolved, and work is performed according to operational standards.
- Provide on-call support and serve as escalation for other engineers as needed, to 24x7 critical infrastructure operations.
- Demonstrate strong oral communication skill.
- Participates in the planning and design of technology architecture roadmaps.
- Provides leadership in the development of operations policies, procedures and best practices.
- High School degree or equivalent (or higher); Bachelor's degree is preferred
- 7 or more years of relevant experience working with Data Center Infrastructure/Public Cloud (IaaS), Server Operating Systems, Server virtualization platforms, Data Protection and Cyber Resilience technologies. Azure and VMware
- At least one advanced relevant certification required, or obtained within one year of start date. Examples of advanced certifications include (but not limited to) VCP, CCP, VCAP, or relevant Microsoft Azure or AWS certifications
- Proven experience in design and deployment of Enterprise IT Infrastructure within Data Center and/or Cloud environments
- Experience leading project teams in the design and implement of new solutions in areas of expertise
- Proven ability to work with other technical teams in a collaborative and supportive manner
- Independently motivated to seek knowledge in areas of responsibility and mentor other engineers in areas of expertise.
