Production Leadership Role
This is a manufacturing leadership role focused on planning, coordinating, and directing production activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze production performance and downtime to identify root causes and lead corrective action initiatives.
- Analyze downtime and ensure proper explanations for any lost production time.
- Develop plans and processes to minimize manufacturing costs and operate within established parameters through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, and materials.
- E nsure production runs in a timely manner and meets quality assurance specifications.
- Participate in the design of validation processes, including production standards, process control charts, and systems.
- Develop, implement, and assess Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including system design, tools, and techniques.
- Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to support the company's strategic initiatives.
- Participate in food safety programs to ensure the safety of ingredients and finished products.
- Guide employees to align goals and activities with company-wide continuous improvement directives.
- Continually improve safety performance by addressing employee safety attitudes and ensuring compliance with state, federal, and company regulations.
- Provide backup to scheduling, pack-off, and warehouse areas.
- Participate in HACCP, Safety, and Process Safety Management Committees.
- Maintenance oversight.
- Perform other functions as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversee employee participation and adherence to food safety programs and policies.
- Supervise activities of employees in production, including training, motivating, and disciplining staff.
- Schedule and assign work for department staff; follow up on results.
- Provide guidance to supervisors regarding time management, problem resolution, and employee-related issues.
- Maintain department staff by selecting and orienting new employees.
- Interface with regulatory agencies, such as the USDA.
- Participate in the Performance Management Process.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Meat/Food Science, Business, or related field.
- 5 years of broad manufacturing experience and 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management.
- Knowledge of SPC, HACCP, and OSHA regulations.
- Knowledge of quality principles and tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with computers, specifically Microsoft Office applications.
- Bilingual preferred.
