Position Overview:
The Hydraulic Technician will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems, particularly diesel hydraulic power units and associated hoses. The ideal candidate will have experience working with hydraulic systems, the ability to diagnose and fix mechanical issues, and ensure that equipment operates efficiently and safely in demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hydraulic System Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel hydraulic power units and hoses, ensuring systems are operating optimally.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic system issues, including leaks, pressure drops, and faulty components, and carry out necessary repairs.
- Operation of Hydraulic Power Units:
- Operate diesel hydraulic power units in various field applications, ensuring safe and efficient performance in dredging and pumping operations.
- Adjust hydraulic systems as needed to meet job-specific requirements, including setting pressure levels and managing flow rates.
- Troubleshooting and Repair:
- Diagnose and resolve issues with hydraulic systems, including malfunctioning pumps, motors, valves, and hoses.
- Replace or repair damaged hoses and hydraulic components, and perform system flushes when required.
- Preventive Maintenance:
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules for hydraulic systems and keep accurate records of inspections, repairs, and replacements.
- Monitor hydraulic fluid levels, filters, and hose conditions to minimize downtime.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring that hydraulic systems are operated and maintained safely.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations regarding hydraulic equipment operation and maintenance.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a hydraulic technician, particularly working with diesel hydraulic power units and hoses.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic system components, including pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, and hoses.
- Skills:
- Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, technical manuals, and repair guides.
- Familiarity with operating and maintaining diesel engines and hydraulic power units.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Tools & Equipment:
- Experience using diagnostic tools to identify issues in hydraulic systems.
- Familiarity with hydraulic pressure testing equipment and related tools.
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy components, stand for extended periods, and work in outdoor or challenging environments.
- Willingness to travel for field operations and emergency repairs as needed.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in dredging or industrial pumping applications is a plus.
- Vocational training or certifications in hydraulics or mechanical systems.
- CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is a plus.

Pay: $24.00 - $35.00 per hour
