What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Assistant position at EDEN AUTISM SERVICES?
Looking for a meaningful part-time position? Eden Autism is seeking Recreation Assistants to provide instruction and behavior support to students during our community-based after school program!
Under direction of a certified teacher, our Recreation Assistants support Eden School students as they work to generalize learned skills to various community settings. You'll accompany students to activities like bowling, trampoline parks, mini golf and more!
The hours for this position are 2:30 to 5:15pm, Monday through Friday.
RESPONSIBILITY SNAPSHOT
- Accompany students on all designated community activities. Ensure that students are engaged in appropriate activities during leisure and occupational time.
- Assist Group Leader with all individual and group activities. Follow daily activity schedule and meet the therapeutic needs of the students.
- Implement all teaching and behavioral support programs. Collect and record daily teaching and behavioral data.
- Communicate daily student activities to parents by writing in communication logs.
- Complete tasks assigned on daily job chart or as designated by the Group leader.
- Attend staff meetings and all required trainings.
MUST HAVES
- High School diploma required or GED equivalent
- Enrolled in college or university toward a four-year degree is preferred
- Valid, unsuspended driver’s license is required
- Minimum of one year of working with students with autism and/or developmental disabilities, preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
- Sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, stoop, and/or reach above shoulder level for extended periods of time.
- Pass and maintain Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification, including implementation of all strategies and techniques.
