Description:
The Payroll/Human Resources Specialist performs various processes in the Business Office related to day-to-day payroll tasks, preparing payroll in the school’s payroll software system and related functions. This individual also assists the department in onboarding, 403b procedures and other Human Resource and Payroll related tasks.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Collects, compiles and prepares payroll data.
- Reviews and verifies employee time logs and timesheets.
- Works with HR Director and Financial Administrator to process semi-monthly payroll.
- Verifies accuracy of employee data and prepares reports on payroll activities.
- Responds to employee inquiries regarding their pay and taxes.
- Records, verifies, and reconciles payroll-related information.
- Manages compensation data and assists with annual compensation changes.
- Oversees 403b processes, deferrals, and reporting.
- Assists HR Director in ensuring all onboarding procedures and paperwork are completed for new hires.
- Ensures proper information is entered and maintained within 3rd party Payroll system.
- Partners with employees on any payroll issues and needs.
- Supports other functions of the Business Office, as needed.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Move about classrooms and hallways.
- Climb the stairs to reach the offices on higher floors at the BH Campus.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience, Human Resources experience a plus
- Have a mature relationship with Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Savior and be active in an evangelical church.
- Be a Christ-like model for students in attitude, speech, and actions (Luke 6:40)
- Be supportive of the school's mission and doctrinal statements.
- Acceptable PA DOE employment clearances dated within one year: FBI Fingerprint/ Act 114 Federal Criminal Background Check (Identogo Service Code 1KG6TR), Act 151 State Child Abuse Background Report, and Act 34 PA State Police Background Clearance.
- Personal qualifications: Aptitude for numbers; excellence in organization, prioritization, verbal and written communication, administrative writing skills, interpersonal and software/application skills (Gmail, Word, Excel).
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to work well with multiple demands.
- Detail oriented and organized.
- A self-starter who is capable of taking initiative including the ability to think ahead and work flexibly.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive payroll information.
Compensation
- Hourly Rate commensurate with experience
- Paid sick and vacation time per the accrual rates in the Employee Handbook.
