About Us:
Eden II Programs is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with autism throughout their lives. We provide a broad range of educational, residential, employment, and community-based services that empower individuals with autism to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Controller to join our finance team and help drive the organization’s mission forward.
Position Summary:
The Controller will oversee the financial operations of Eden II Programs and the Eden II/Genesis Foundation. This leadership role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of all financial data and ensuring compliance with all regulatory, accounting, and auditing requirements. The Controller will manage a team and work closely with senior leadership to support financial planning, reporting, and strategic decision-making. The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all daily accounting functions, including reconciling bank and investment accounts to the general ledger, performing analytical reviews and analysis over financial information, reviewing checks issued by accounts payable, accounts receivable, recording and analyzing fixed assets, debt, reviewing accruals, revenues, expenses and payroll functions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local government reporting requirements.
- Manage annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Develop and monitor internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
- Assist with the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts.
- Provide timely and accurate financial analysis to support programmatic and strategic decisions.
- Supervise and support finance staff, ensuring high standards of performance and
- professional development.
- Oversee grant and contract reporting and compliance in collaboration with program and development teams.
- Coordinate financial reporting and documentation for government contracts and private funders.
- Recognize improvement opportunities, and identify and implement best practices in order to benefit the Organization’s needs and improve daily operations.
- Maintain a positive and supportive attitude in representing Eden II Programs and leading by example through hard work and commitment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Experience in nonprofit financial management strongly preferred.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Blackbaud, QuickBooks, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Experience working with government contracts and audits a plus.
