Day to day as a Housing Specialist
As a new Housing Specialist at EDEN Inc., you can expect a dynamic day filled with diverse responsibilities aimed at supporting the housing needs of the community. Your daily tasks will include conducting client intakes, assessing housing eligibility, and developing personalized housing plans. You'll engage with clients through one-on-one meetings, offering guidance and resources to navigate their housing challenges.
Collaboration with local landlords and community organizations will be essential, as you'll work to establish strong partnerships that benefit your clients. Additionally, expect to participate in team meetings and training sessions to hone your skills and stay updated on industry best practices. Your schedule will be Monday through Friday, allowing for a consistent work-life balance while providing a vital service to those in need.
What we're looking for in a Housing Specialist
To thrive as a Housing Specialist at EDEN, you will need a blend of skills and experience that align with our mission. A high school diploma or GED is required, while an Associate's Degree in Social Services or a related field is preferred. Ideal candidates will have 2-3 years of work experience with the Housing Choice Voucher program or similar housing assistance programs, providing you with a solid foundation to navigate the complexities of housing solutions. Experience working with mental health populations, ideally 1-2 years, is also beneficial, as empathy and understanding are key to supporting our clients effectively.
Proficiency in relevant software tools is essential for managing client information and tracking housing applications. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills will enable you to advocate for clients and build relationships within the community, ensuring their housing needs are met with integrity and excellence.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
