Community Engagement Coordinator- Grow Ogden
Grow Ogden Farm Location: 880 28th Street, Ogden, UT
Position Type: Volunteer position - 2 to 8 hours per week
Farm operating hours: 3:30-6:30 pm Mon- Fri Spring’25 Session: April 1 to June 30, 2025
Organization Overview:
Eden Streets is a non-profit organization committed to supporting individuals facing homelessness to rebuild their lives through sustainable agriculture. Our farm, Grow Ogden is a flagship project of Eden Streets, currently on a 1/8th acre with potential for a 1/4 acre expansion, focuses on cultivating fresh produce for donation to local food pantries. Grow Ogden is a job training program on an urban farm that transitionally employs those facing homelessness. Grow Ogden plans to hire 6 individuals facing homelessness by mid-March 2025 for our Spring ’25 session. We believe in empowering individuals through practical skills and holistic support. We are seeking a dynamic Community Engagement Coordinator to lead our efforts in transforming lives through agriculture.
Position Summary:
This position is currently a volunteer position with an up-and-coming local nonprofit farm in Ogden, UT. We are seeking someone who is passionate about our mission and wants to develop a community of supporters who “own” the Grow Ogden farm and wish to provide ongoing volunteer support to help the Grow Ogden leadership team raise ~$40,000 for each of the spring and fall Grow Ogden job-training sessions. As the Community Engagement Coordinator for Grow Ogden Farm, you will be responsible for managing community engagement activities within our organization from helping arrange public events (workshops and activities, etc.) and meetings with business, civic, and government leaders and reporting directly to Eden Streets Executive Director and Grow Ogden Project Manager. You will keep current stakeholders (donors, volunteers, sponsors) informed of Grow Ogden’s plans and progress. The ideal candidate is a great communicator who has a love for growing things and building community with some experience or exposure in social work and leadership. We are looking for someone who is able to be in Ogden at least once a week.
Responsibilities:
- Keep Grow Ogden event page on Eden Streets website up-to-date.
- Manage calendar of activities.
- Develop and implement engagement strategies to increase community involvement and support with coaching and direction from the Executive Director.
- Work closely with the Volunteer Manager and Recruiting Manager.
- Work closely with Social Media Manager to utilize social media platforms to promote engagement activities and events. Provide content for Social Media.
- Foster relationships with key stakeholders, such as donors, community organizations, and government agencies. As appropriate, attend Local Homeless Council, Interfaith Works monthly, United Way Meetings, Ogden Civic Action Network meetings.
- Give input for newsletters. Send Grow Ogden newsletters - at least quarterly. (Could be delegated to a Newsletter Editor)
- Manage stakeholder distribution lists through Mail Chimp.
- Collaborate and meet with the leadership committee to develop and execute engagement initiatives (every 2 weeks - 1 hour).
- Organize community events and workshops to promote the organization's mission and values. Engage primary sponsors, partners, and donors in a way that enhances the value of Grow Ogden for all stakeholders.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of engagement programs and make recommendations for improvement.
