Job Summary
Mid-Level Piping Designer/Drafter will be responsible for working on designs with the Lead Pipe Designer and preparing layouts and drawings of complex offshore/onshore piping systems utilizing Company 2D and 3D modeling software.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist with the designs and create drawings for assigned projects from information supplied and/or verbal instructions with guidance from engineering sketches with Group Leader Supervision.
- Responsible for keeping their direct supervisors updated on any and all concerns relating to their respective assignments.
- Ensure that all drawings adhere to client and/or company drafting standards.
- Perform drawing corrections from supplied mark-ups.
- Assist with the designs of various projects under group leader supervision and draft clean effect piping systems that adhere to safety and maintenance specifications.
- Perform corrections to the following drawings: General Arrangements, P&ID’s, Piping Plans, Piping Sections, and Isometric Spools.
- Track progress on the drawings assigned to you.
- Assist Group Leader with creating weight and material estimates.
- Be available for site and vendor visits as required.
- Be available for offshore visits with team members as required.
- Work well with other disciplines on the project and help maintain project/client standards.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills And Abilities)
- Requires a minimum of five (5) years of piping layout and design experience under a Lead Pipe Designer relating to the Upstream / Downstream Oil & Gas market.
- Requires knowledge and the ability to work with MS Office Suite of products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access).
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD.
- Must have advanced knowledge of piping 2D and 3D software. (AutoPlant and Navisworks)(PDMS / E3D a Plus)
- Must have advanced working knowledge of P&ID’s, General Arrangements, Piping Plans Sections and Details, Pipe Supports and Isometrics.
- Must have the ability to layout process equipment with nozzle locations and interconnecting piping under Group Leader supervision.
- Field experience in gathering information for retrofit purposes a Plus.
- Must have working knowledge of ASME, ANSI, API RP 14C, API RP 14E, API Spec 6A, NFPA and OSHA standards.
- Must have working knowledge with AWS Welding Symbols and AISC Manual.

Working Conditions
- Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private office) but also requires occasional travel to off-site work locations.
- Field duties require outdoor work in a plant or offshore platform atmosphere;
- Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;
- Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels;
- Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;
- May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes;
- May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.
