Position Summary

The Business Advisor is a licensed, client-facing sales professional responsible for managing business sale engagements and bringing in new listings. This role combines strategic advisory work with strong sales performance. Advisors are expected to prospect, follow up, win client engagements, and manage deals from start to finish with the support of a Director and Buyer Coordinator.

This is a commission-only, independent contractor (1099) position designed for entrepreneurial professionals who want to grow their own book of business with the backing of a team-based platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead advisor and relationship manager for assigned clients.
  • Collaborate with the Director and Buyer Coordinator to execute deal strategies.
  • Conduct valuations, pricing analyses, and prepare high-quality Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs).
  • Manage all aspects of the business sale process, including: Buyer inquiries, Negotiations, Due diligence coordination, Closing preparation
  • Represent the firm in client meetings, with attorneys, accountants, and lenders.
  • Source new listings by building referral relationships and outbound prospecting.

Annual Listing & Revenue Targets

  • 10–15 listings annually for businesses under $1 million in asking price
  • 2–4 listings annually for businesses in the $1M–$4M range
  • Annual Fee Generation Target: $250,000 in closed deal fees

  • Excellent analytical writing and CIM development abilities
  • Project and time management capability across multiple concurrent deals
  • Negotiation, problem-solving, and deal-structuring skills
  • Ability to build rapport with business owners and professional advisors
  • Sales and outbound relationship-building skills

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in business brokerage, commercial or business banking, M&A, or related fields
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and close deals independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, CRM systems, and financial modeling
  • High degree of professionalism and client service orientation
  • Active Real Estate License in the state where business is conducted
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred

Compensation Structure

  • This is a 1099 commission-only role with no base salary.
  • Advisors earn a percentage of the success fees generated on closed transactions.
  • Strong performers can generate six-figure income ($250K annually) through consistent deal flow and relationship development.

  • Senior Business Advisor: Work independently, close larger transactions ($1M–$5M), and generate $500K in fee income.
  • Director: Lead a team, coach advisors, and drive strategic growth.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
