Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Operations Manager, and the Plant Manager, the Quality Manager will oversee the activity of quality assurance efficiencies and staff, developing, implementing and maintaining a system of quality protocols and standards. In partnership with operational leadership, this position will ensure excellence in finished products therefore meeting client expectations.
Job Responsibilities:

- Supports the leadership team in ensuring the daily workflow and assignments are fully executed as per quality and production expectations.
- Develops, implements and manages processes to ensure products meet required specifications for quality, function and reliability prior to shipping.
- Collaborates with Operations Manager, Processing Manager, Sales Team, Quality/Trainers and operations Supervisors on new product/customer quality specifications.
- Assists Sales team in coordination of sample products.
- Actively supervises/trains and mentors Quality Analysts to ensure open communication and proper protocol/best practices are followed. Verifies knowledge, understanding and execution of practices.
- Responsible for employee development and overall job performance of the Quality/Training team through on-the floor coaching and mentoring with 80% of time spent on the plant floor.
- Identifies quality concerns through analyzing quality audits, visual inspection and other means. Collaborates with Operations and Processing Managers to immediately fix the concern.
- Collaborates with the Sales team, Purchasing Manager and other operations parties on label changes and creation.
- Ensures products are identified, labeled, packaged and warehoused correctly to support inventory, quality and client requirements.
- Coordinates communication to Production Supervisors, Assistant Supervisors and Quality Analysts on quality concerns, alerts or changes. Is responsible to ensure proper execution on all shifts.
- Partners with Production Supervisor on palletization system to ensure operational excellence. Takes immediate action in resolving any concerns. Maintains hands on working knowledge or process and equipment.
- Partners with Production (shift) supervisors on employee concerns involving quality violations. Assists in providing constructive and timely performance feedback, addressing disciplinary issues in a timely manager.
- Perform all duties as directed/assigned by Plant Manager or Operations Manager.
- Ensures compliance with all safety rules, OSHA guidelines, GMP and PEE guidelines as well as any departmental/line specific work instructions and protocol. Immediately escalates concerns to Plant Manager, Maintenance Manager and other supporting departments.
- Comply with The Employee Handbook and all other Edge Plastics policies and protocols.
Education and Experience:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in technical related discipline preferred but not required OR equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years proven manufacturing experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years PROVEN supervisory/ leadership experience
- Minimum of 2 years PROVEN quality related experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Above average Microsoft Office and computer aptitude
Internal Applicants:
- Minimum of one year serving in a Supervisory or Assistant Supervisory position OR
- Minimum of two years serving in a Quality Analyst position with Edge Plastics
- Internal applicants must be in good standing with less than 6 attendance points
- Internal applicants must be in good standing and hold a Satisfactory or higher overall performance rating.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
The Quality Manager must have the following abilities:
- Stand, bend, stretch, walk for hours at a time.
- Must be able to lift between 37 and 50 lbs at a time and must be able to lift finished products overhead.
- Read and comprehend written instructions and ensure instructions are met and achieved upon review of completed product. Must be able to properly record quality related concerns as they arise.
- Ability to be able to visually inspect finished product; view stress fractures, bubbles, color accuracy and other quality metrics to ensure production and client metrics are met.
- Ability to communicate in professional tone and manner in both verbal and written means.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a collaborative team setting.
- Ability to multi-task with a high sense of urgency
The Quality Manager must also be able to:
- Position is Monday-Friday (7:00 am – 4:30pm) with one mid shift (11-8:30).
- Must be willing to work on days, nights, weekends and/or holidays and on call 24 hours as business needs dictate.
