EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Job FunctionsOversee the supervision of custodial staff, in collaboration with the Director of Facilities, and act as lead worker in maintenance related areas; inform Director of Facilities of any problems concerning these areas.Ensure all spaces in College buildings on the Tarboro campus are adequately covered by custodial staff to ensure the campus is kept sufficiently clean.Identify projects that need attention and coordinate with custodial and maintenance staff to complete the work in the most effective way possible.Monitor the College’s work order system and address maintenance work orders for the Tarboro campus in a timely and professional manner.Help prepare spaces for College meetings and special events; assist with furniture moving and setup as required.Operate motor vehicles as needed, insuring College fleet vehicles have gas, appropriate tire pressure, and are up to date on oil changes and routine maintenance.Keep track of janitorial and maintenance supplies and order when needed via NC E-Procurement. Order equipment and repair parts for all equipment.Perform repairs on plumbing, electrical, structural, cosmetic, and service related parts of the facilities that do not require a licensed contractor. Hang pictures, plaques, bulletin boards, etc. as needed.Coordinate with and supervise outside contractors performing large tasks or repairs on campus. Be readily available for the immediate “emergency” needs for staff, faculty, and students.Unload delivery trucks as needed.Procure purchase orders and pick up items as needed from local vendors.Unlock buildings in the mornings and prepare buildings for classes.Coordinate and perform classroom and office moves.Coordinate training for safe work practices and good housekeeping procedures, and ensure adherence to OSHA standards.Perform job duties such as cleaning restrooms, floors, collecting trash and recyclables, etc., in absence of other custodial personnel.Be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry out physically demanding tasks.Maintain a valid drivers license.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.DisclaimerThe above statements describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this classification.
