Position Summary
This position will support the US Department of Energy Office of Scientific and Technical Information (DOE OSTI) Security Officer to ensure the protection of sensitive information, assets, and facilities. This position will implement security protocols, manage facility access controls, and maintain compliance with federal security regulations to assist the Security Officer in safeguarding DOE resources and infrastructure. This role contributes to the DOE’s commitment to secure environments for sensitive work and collaboration.

Position-Specific Duties
All duties will be carried out in coordination with and in support of the DOE OSTI Security Officer .
- Monitors and enforces security policies to safeguard sensitive information, materials, and secure areas in compliance with federal regulations.
- Supports the security clearance process, maintaining accurate records and ensuring all employees and contractors have the appropriate security clearances.
- Assists with security audits and inspections, coordinating with federal agencies to ensure adherence to NISPOM and organizational security policies.
- Facilitates and coordinates training for employees on security policies, information protection, and handling sensitive materials, promoting security awareness and compliance across the organization.
- Investigates security breaches and incidents, taking corrective actions to mitigate risks and prevent future occurrences. Leads efforts in risk assessment and response for various security threats.
- Oversees access to restricted areas and manages physical security measures, including badging, surveillance, and secure facility access controls to ensure only authorized personnel are granted access
- Prepares detailed reports on security incidents, audit findings, and compliance status, maintaining documentation that meets federal requirements.
- Collaborates with government security agencies, internal stakeholders, and other security professionals to ensure effective communication and coordination on security matters.

Security Clearance (DOE Q Clearance) :
A DOE Q clearance is preferred but not required. Candidates must, however, be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance if necessary. This includes meeting all eligibility requirements for access to classified DOE information, which involves a comprehensive federal background investigation.
Ability to provide proof of US Citizenship on your first day of employment to obtain a DOE HSPD-12 Badge in accordance with the terms of the contract. Department of Energy OSTI's policy direction requires all employees employed on this contract to be citizens of the United States.
