Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for Staff Technical Writers opportunities for our customer in Albuquerque, NM for the Sandia National Laboratories.

Project Background:
Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) in its role as scientific advisor to the Department of Energy (DOE) for the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is responsible for evaluating the long-term performance of the WIPP repository. This risk-based Performance Assessment (PA) is accomplished with numerous scientific models and codes. The PA forms the technical basis of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification of WIPP and the periodic Recertification for WIPP. This position will support Quality Assurance program development, coaching, and surveillance. Further duties will include supporting the SNL technical staff in additional assignments (e.g., representation of Sandia in documentation, explanation, and defense of work completed for above activities related to EPA-mandated compliance recertification applications (CRAs) to the EPA) as directed.
Job Duties:
Shall provide unclassified and classified communication services support, in the production of writing as it relates to publications, exhibits, multimedia, and presentation services on an as-needed basis. The subcontractor shall furnish all personnel, materials, equipment, facilities, and delivery services necessary to fulfill the necessary Statement of Work.
Must demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple SDRs, delivering excellent customer service. The writer must possess the ability to create cohesive, structured documents based on the input from multiple authors; and must have experience of being responsible for all facets of technical writing including structure, format, and organization of the document. Proficiency with software programs, such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, is required. Support technical meetings, support project reviews, and collection and management of records decisions. Ability to work effectively in a team environment with diverse groups, produce products with short lead time, and work independently with minimal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA or BS in Technical Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field.
- Minimum of four (4) years of relevant writing experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance ("L", "Q", or "Sigma 15")
- Ability to gain and maintain access to and travel to Client Locations or other work sites designated by Client
