2025 Edgewood Borough Police Department Hiring Notice
The Edgewood Police Department is looking for highly motivated applicants who possess the desire to ensure public safety and enhance the quality of life in the Borough. The nature of the police officer position is to uphold and enforce all laws and ordinances, to protect lives and property, and maintain peace and order in the community, including but not limited to patrolling by car, on foot, bicycle, control traffic, prevent crime or disturbance of the peace, and arrest violators. The Edgewood Police Department will be conducting competitive testing for the position of full-time police officer. Test day registration will begin promptly at 8:45 am, Tuesday April 1, 2025, at the Allegheny County Police Academy, 700 W Ridge Rd, Allison Park, PA 15101. The physical agility test is scheduled to begin at 9:00am, with the Written Examination to immediately follow. All applicants must provide photo identification at the testing site in order to be admitted to the test. The applicant must pass all elements of the Physical Agility test to be eligible to take the Written Examination. Failure of any of the test in the Physical Agility Test is a failure of the entire test. If one test is failed, the testing process is terminated for the applicant at that point.
Incomplete application or failure to turn in any of the required forms or documents as required. Will result in an automatic disqualification. No additional attachments or resume are to be included with the submission. Providing false or inaccurate information will subject the applicant to immediate disqualification.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS SHALL MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS
- United States Citizens
- High School Diploma
- Possess a Four (4) year post-secondary education, (Preferred)
- Successfully completed Act 120 MPOETC from accredited Police Academy
- Must have reached twenty-first (21) birthday prior to submitting completed application
- Possess a valid driver's license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
- Pass a comprehensive background check
- Must be available to work shifts, holidays, weekends and overtime
