Position Summary:
The Dining Room Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the dining room operations of The Bistro Restaurant to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for guests. This position reports to the Bistro Restaurant Manager and involves overseeing the dining room team, maintaining service standards, coordinating with the kitchen, and ensuring that all guests receive timely, attentive, and high-quality service. The ideal candidate is a skilled leader with strong communication abilities, a passion for hospitality, and exceptional organizational skills. As Dining Room Manager, you will work to uphold a warm, welcoming atmosphere, optimize service flow, and uphold the Edgewood brand standards, creating a memorable dining experience for every guest.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee Daily Dining Room Operations: Manage the daily setup, flow, and closing procedures of the dining room, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
- Supervise and Train Dining Staff: Hire, train, and lead the dining room team, including servers, hosts, and support staff, to uphold service standards, teamwork, and guest satisfaction.
- Ensure Guest Satisfaction: Greet guests, monitor tables, and respond to guest inquiries and requests promptly, resolving any concerns or complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain Service Standards: Ensure all staff adhere to established service standards, including 5-Star Forbes standards, and procedures to deliver consistently high-quality dining experience.
- Coordinate with Kitchen and Bar Staff: Work closely with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely food and beverage delivery, special requests, and smooth communication during service.
- Manage Reservations and Seating: Oversee reservations, optimize table assignments, and manage waitlists to maximize seating capacity while maintaining an efficient guest flow.
- Monitor Cleanliness and Compliance: Ensure the dining room meets all health and safety regulations, maintaining cleanliness, and overseeing compliance with sanitation and safety policies.
- Conduct Staff Scheduling and Shift Planning: Prepare and manage staff schedules to meet service needs, ensuring adequate coverage during peak times while managing labor costs.
- Organize and Coordinate Special Events: Plan and manage special events and large parties, working with guests and the kitchen team to ensure a successful and enjoyable experience.
- Promote a Positive Work Environment: Cultivate a collaborative, supportive atmosphere among dining room staff, recognizing achievements, addressing challenges, and promoting professional growth.
Qualifications / Special Skills:
- A certificate, coursework or a degree in Hospitality Management, Restaurant Management, Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
- 2-5 years of restaurant experience is required with at least 1 year being supervisory experience.
- Experience with both fine dining and high-volume settings is preferred.
- ServSafe Manager Certification in Food Safety is a plus but not required.
