What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clean Energy and Legal Department Intern position at Edison Electric Institute?

The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) is the association that represents all U.S. investor-owned electric companies. Our members provide electricity for nearly 250 million Americans and operate in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. As a whole, the electric power industry supports more than 7 million jobs in communities across the United States. In addition to our U.S. members, EEI has more than 65 international electric companies, with operations in more than 90 countries, as International Members, and hundreds of industry suppliers and related organizations as Associate Members.
This is a hybrid position which requires the incumbent to reside in the District of Columbia metropolitan area and come into the office a minimum of four days each week, Monday through Thursday.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE INTERN
EEI is looking to add a bright, resourceful, and organized intern to our Clean Energy & Legal team.
Important responsibilities of the Intern include:
- Review, organize, and catalogue department files and documents in a cloud-based system.
- Utilize Microsoft Teams organizational framework to catalogue department documents including, final comment letters, summaries, transmittals, litigation documents, etc.
- Attend department meetings to learn more about EEI activities
- Attend weekly meetings of the EEI Clean Energy & Legal team, as well as important Environment EAC virtual meetings, and any other meetings as appropriate.
- Assist with any other projects of the Clean Energy & Legal team as time permits and as appropriate.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should have or be working towards a bachelors degree or masters degree in environmental sciences, energy, political science, history, English, or any other science, policy, research, and/or writing related major, or equivalent work experience. Specifically, EEI is looking for a candidate with:
- Experience in policy, energy, environmental science, writing, and/or research
- Ability to work independently and on a deadline
- Experience providing support to groups in a professional environment
- Strong organizational skills and experience with MS Office
- Excellent communication skills and strong team player
- Ability to work effectively with a broad range of staff and external stakeholders

COMPENSATION
