POSITION OVERVIEW
About the Position
To provide guidance services, advocacy and collaboration to support students, parents, teachers and administrators in resolving various types of educational, social, civic and personal situations and to promote growth for students.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Master’s degree in counseling
Experience
- 1 year of counseling experience
Other Requirements
- Arizona Counselor Certificate; Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC); Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Must possess the ability to hold/obtain a Valid IVP Fingerprint clearance card by the time of hire.
- Must possess the ability to hold a valid Arizona Driver’s License by the time of hire.
Preferred Requirements
- 3 years of counseling experience
ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS
- Direct and indirect intervention including: Counseling on an individual, group, or family basis
- Consults with administrators, teachers, parents and other professionals about student problems and appropriate change strategies
- Networking with school programs and community agencies to provide essential services for families and children
- Effective casework practice
- Understanding of the school social work profession including associated laws, ethical issues, professional issues and standards.
- Understanding of child development, psychopathology, social and environmental conditioning, cultural diversity and family systems
- Assist with conflict resolution and anger management
- Assist parent in accessing and utilizing school and community resources, refer parents and students to agencies when appropriate to meet students needs
- Develop and implement professional development training for educational staff and parents as requested
- Provide individual and/or group counseling in response to school-wide needs and crises;
- Participate in professional activities aimed at current trends and best practices
- Accurately and appropriately interpret student data
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
