Purpose
The Catering Sales Manager position exists to drive catering revenue and client satisfaction for all concepts within Edley’s Restaurant Group. This role will focus primarily on acquiring new catering business through various sales channels, such as client meetings, industry events, and online platforms. This involves understanding client needs, developing customized menus and proposals, and negotiating contracts. Additionally, they oversee the entire sales process, from initial inquiry to event execution, ensuring smooth operations and client satisfaction throughout.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prospecting & Lead Generation: Identify and pursue potential clients (corporations, individuals, event planners).
- Sales Presentations: Conduct persuasive presentations showcasing the catering company's services and menu options.
- Negotiations & Contract Closure: Negotiate pricing, terms, and finalize contracts with clients.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Client Consultations: Understand client needs, preferences, and budget constraints.
- Menu Planning & Development: Assist in creating customized menus that meet client requirements.
- Market Research: Analyze market trends and identify new business opportunities.
- Sales Reporting: Track sales performance, analyze key metrics, and generate reports.
- Marketing Initiatives: Participate in marketing activities, such as attending industry events and networking.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 2-5 years of experience in catering sales, event planning, or a related field
- Prior experience in a supervisory or management role within the hospitality industry
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated strong sales and negotiation skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and CRM software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Customer service orientation
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Culinary Arts, or a related field
- 5-7 years experience in catering sales, event planning, or a related field
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification
- Certified Hospitality Professional (CHP) or Certified Meeting Professional (CMP)
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to stand for extended periods
- Able to work in and around extreme temperatures
