Job Summary:
The Senior Drilling and Water Facilities Manager – Water & Wastewater Facilities is responsible for leading complex projects related to well drilling, water treatment infrastructure, and facilities. This role requires expertise in well design, site selection, hydrogeology, and project management to ensure successful planning, execution, and compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in drilling operations, construction estimating, and infrastructure development, particularly within the Houston and Dallas area.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight: Manage and execute water and wastewater infrastructure projects, ensuring timely completion within budget and scope.
- Well Planning & Design: Utilize geological expertise to determine optimal well locations, design well structures, and ensure compliance with water resource regulations.
- Drilling & Installation: Oversee drilling operations, monitor onsite progress, and ensure proper installation of well casings, pumps, and related components.
- Construction Estimation: Develop accurate cost estimates for well drilling and infrastructure projects, assisting in budgeting and financial oversight.
- Regulatory Compliance: Secure necessary permits, coordinate with environmental agencies, and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local guidelines.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior engineers and field staff, ensuring skill development and knowledge transfer.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Work with municipalities, clients, and internal teams to align project objectives with stakeholder needs.
- Safety & Quality Assurance: Implement the best practices for onsite safety, quality control, and risk mitigation during project execution.
- Performance Monitoring: Conduct well testing, data collection, and reporting on flow rates, pressure levels, and geological findings.
- Industry Engagement: Stay updated on technological advancements in well drilling, wastewater treatment, and sustainability practices.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of well drilling techniques, groundwater resource management, and hydrogeology.
- Experience with drilling equipment, well construction, pump installation, and water treatment processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess drilling challenges and optimize solutions.
- Proficiency in construction cost estimation, budgeting, and financial planning for large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with TCEQ regulations, municipal water treatment guidelines, and wastewater facility operations.
- Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with contractors, engineers, and government agencies.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills to facilitate collaboration across departments.
Work Environment:
- Office & Field Work: This role requires a mix of office-based planning and onsite project oversight at drilling locations.
- Safety Compliance: Exposure to construction environments necessitating the use of PPE, including safety glasses, boots, and hearing protection.
Education, Certification, and Experience:
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in well drilling, ground water infrastructure, or a related field.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Geology, or related discipline.
- Licensure: PE License preferred.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in drilling operations, water resource management, or project management are a plus.
- Driver’s License: Valid TX Driver’s License required.
