Job Summary
EHRA Engineering Firm is seeking a Senior Human Resources Generalist to join our team. The role involves running the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) like compensation, disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; training and development, and assisting with payroll, benefits, and leave as needed.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages the on-boarding and off-boarding processes, including new hire orientations
- Completes and reviews employment pre-screening, including background checks and drug screens
- Manages and maintains the integrity of the HRIS system and data
- Handles employment-related inquiries from employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the Director of HR.
- Conduct exit interviews and partner with managers to improve the climate based on constructive feedback
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
- Assist in the development, implementation, and execution of human resource policies and procedures, as well as the primary contact for general questions and support on company policies and procedures
- Leads the performance management process including annual reviews, reporting, performance improvement plans, training, and career pathing
- Leads the employee recognition and engagement program, including development and implementation.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Manages employee safety, welfare, and wellness education and training programs and policies, including compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training and continuing education.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Provides and analyzes Ad Hoc reports as needed
- Provides backup to the Payroll & Benefits Specialist as needs arise.
- Performs projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Highly adaptable and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Thorough knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to labor and employment, as well as hiring and recruitment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles.
- Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to build rapport and communicate professionally with all levels of the firm
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion at all times
Education, Certification, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Management, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive Human Resources and Recruiting experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software
- SHRM/PHR certified preferred
Physical requirements and work environment:
- This is predominantly a sedentary role operating in an office setting.
- While performing the duties of this job, the team member is continually required to talk or hear.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, digital cameras, and devices.
- The team member is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
