Title: Homeless Family Advocate
Compensation: $25 per hour
Hours: 20 hours per week
Days: 177 day contract Aug -May
Reports to: Educational Services Coordinator
Position Summary: The Homeless Family Advocate works with homeless families to understand and remove barriers to students’ academic success.
*This position is grant funded, Therefore, the position duration is for only two school years.
Essential Duties:
- Ensures homeless families and students receive educational services for which they are eligible.
- Assists homeless families in connecting with community resources such as food, clothing, counseling, and housing.
- Reviews homeless students’ attendance and grades and intervenes as necessary.
- Collaborates with district Homeless Liaison regarding homeless families and their needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- College degree in education, counseling, or social work
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: attention to detail; communicating effectively with people of varied cultural and educational backgrounds; establishing and maintaining constructive relationships; and maintaining confidentiality.
Length of Contract One hundred seventy seven (177) contract days.
Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Educational Services Coordinator.
Education and/or Experience College degree in Education, Counseling or Social Work.
