JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: VE Teacher, Secondary
DEPARTMENT: Site
REPORTS TO: VE Principal
Job Goal:
To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaches district approved curriculum.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Engage daily with students either online or face to face.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Design virtual learning opportunities.
- Encourages students to set and maintain a schedule of accessing online work.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and –in harmony with the goals—establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Attend IEP meetings.
- Meet with parents for education related purposes.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
Length of Contract: One hundred eighty one (181) contract days.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Site Principal in accordance with the provisions
of the Board's policies and state law.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises classroom and students.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in education.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, staff, parents, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to plan budgets and use the mathematical skills required to do so. Maintain accurate records and support documentation for projects under the supervision of the position.
REASONABLE ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to use computer and computer related programs and other technologies needed to perform essential job functions. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community. Ability to organize and chair or facilitate committees and meetings. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
