Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates for a Project Coordinator in the Charter School Office (CSO). The mission of the CSO is to create and sustain quality educational options for families in New York State on behalf of the Board of Regents. The CSO strives to accomplish this through high quality authorization and oversight of the Board of Regents portfolio of charter schools, fair and transparent oversight of all charter schools, and dissemination of information about effective school design and practices. The incumbent of this position will provide comprehensive fiscal oversight and technical assistance for charter schools receiving subgrants under the New York State Education Department’s $121 million Charter School Program (CSP) grant. This role involves ensuring compliance with state and federal fiscal regulations, supporting effective financial management practices, and offering expertise in charter school finance. Duties of this position will include but not be limited to: • Conduct regular reviews and audits of charter school financial reports and budgets;• Monitor compliance with state and federal grant regulations;• Provide expert guidance on fiscal policies, procedures, and best practices;• Oversee the preparation and submission of required financial reports and documentation to the New York State Education Department;• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data related to the CSP grant;• Serve as a liaison between charter schools, the New York State Education Department, and other stakeholders; and• Collect, analyze, and interpret financial data to inform decision-making and program evaluation.

The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree AND five years of experience in charter school finance, grant management, or a related area. Two years of the experience must have been at a supervisory level. A Master’s degree may substitute for one year of specialized experience.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prior experience with fiscal oversight in an educational setting. Knowledge of charter school funding mechanisms, grant regulations, and financial management practices. CPA or other relevant certifications.

Additional comments regarding the vacancy. Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a temporary appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Verification of degree will be required at the time of interview for all candidates. This position allows for the opportunity to telecommute up to 30% each bi-weekly pay period and is granted at the discretion of the supervisor and the appointing office. This position will require up to 20% Statewide travel.This position leads to a maximum salary of $121,360 based on annual performance advances.
